Dear Future Me

“Health is a treasure. Of all temporal possessions it is the most precious. Wealth, learning, and honor are dearly purchased at the loss of the vigor of health. None of these can secure happiness, if health is lacking. It is a terrible sin to abuse the health that God has given us; such abuses enfeeble us for life, and make us losers, even if we gain by such means any amount of education.” Counsels On Diet and Food, pg. 20

Reading this tonight really touched my heart and I wanted to write down my thoughts before I went to bed.

Dear Me:

I believe God has called you to go into the medical field. I also believe that God is not calling you to compromise your health during this endeavor. He is not asking you to sacrifice the health He created and gifted you with. He is not asking you to stay up late studying, eat junk food, pull all-nighters, stress, prioritize school above everything else, guzzle coffee, compromise your relationships with Him, your husband and family. Be a conscientious guardian of your body and mind. Trust that He will guide you through this difficult journey, offering you sustenance just as He did for the children of Israel in their journey through the wilderness. Remember Daniel 1:2-17 and believe that if you are faithful to His health principles, He will grant you the wisdom you require to complete this journey. By trusting and practicing these principles of health, you will grow in knowledge, and more importantly, faith in God’s promises.

Sincerely,

Me
